CHURCH GROUPS

Liturgy of the Word

There is a rota in place for reading at all Masses — weekday, weekend, Feast Days, etc. Readings are given out two months in advance to facilitate preparation and familiarisation. Training is provided for young readers as required.

Eucharistic Ministers

The Eucharistic Ministers administer Holy Communion at all Masses including Weddings and Funerals. Some Ministers take Holy Communion to the sick also. Quarterly Rota in operation.

Parish Pastoral Committee

The purpose of the Parish Pastoral Committee is to advise and work closely with the Parish Priest, in a spirit of partnership and co-operation, build both communion and community within our Parish.

The Parish Pastoral Committee meet on the first Tuesday of the month.

Finance Committee

The Parish Finance Committee is an advisory body to the Parish Priest and ensures the sound administration of the temporal goods of the Parish.

The function of the committee is to assist the Parish Priest in his task of administering the Parish finances: maintaining the Parish properties, planning for future capital works and formulating strategies for fund raising.

Other functions are to advise on good procedures to ensure that all Parish income and expenditure is recorded through the approved Diocesan accounting system and advising on the appropriate safeguards and controls in regard to the
handling, recording and lodging of cash. Meetings are held as often as business requires but at least four meetings are held each year with a quorum for meetings being the Parish Priest or Chairperson and two other appointed members in attendance. The Chairperson is Mark Sweeney.

Safeguarding Committee

Safeguarding within our Parish is about providing a safe, welcoming and enriching place for children, young people and adults and those who may be at risk of harm. The Parish Safeguarding Committee (PSC) takes a lead role in
managing Safeguarding within the Parish. Safeguarding is very much a shared community responsibility in which each and every one has a part to play, whether that is reporting a concern about a child or adult or by volunteering in the Parish in any activity.

The role of the PSC is to ensure that all volunteers within a Parish setting, working with children, young people, and adults, are safely recruited, vetted, and trained. The Committee disseminate the Safeguarding Policies and
Procedures within the Parish and maintain a register all parish organisations and individuals. The Committee provides parish organisations and individuals and
the Diocese with ongoing support in vetting and training volunteers. The PSC provides Safeguarding Code of Behaviour; and Induction and Level I Safeguarding training (both on a bi-annual basis) as well as meeting as a
Committee to review policies and procedures.

St. MacNissi's Parish very much appreciates the work of those who play an active role in serving our children, young people, Adults at Risk of Harm and Adults in Need of Protection, by volunteering for roles and giving of their free
time, experience and expertise.

Church Cleaning Team

The Church Cleaning Team are responsible for the interior upkeep of the Church, ensuring the Church is clean and tidy for all occasions.

Teams clean weekly on a rota basis, with each member spending about an hour every four weeks.

Flower Arrangement

Flowers are an offering of great beauty and are used to show thanks and reverence to God for His wonderful creation. Our Parish has a small, dedicated team who arrange flowers in our Church and who extend a warm invitation to
anyone who would like to become involved in this very rewarding and satisfying contribution to our church community.
